Five years ago, Dave Kirk, Jason Blackley, and Aimee Marino and counselors from two area churches founded the Eastern Iowa Biblical Counseling Coalition (EIBCC). The EIBCC’s goal is to equip pastors and church leaders with tools needed to care for and shepherd their people and to build soul care into the discipleship DNA of their churches. Little did we know what the Lord was up to. Over the last five years, we have seen over 20 churches get involved monthly with the EIBCC. We have churches from western Illinois, northern Iowa, the Quad Cities, Pella, Oskaloosa, Washington and right here in the corridor who gather for encouragement and equipping. Today we average 30–40 leaders at every meeting.

A few years ago the EIBCC also launched an annual fall conference for church leaders, as well as individual church mentoring, leadership workshops and one on one meetings with leaders. The EIBCC has also helped to plant a biblical counseling coalition in Wisconsin and in Alabama.

David Cotner, Senior Pastor at Prairie Flower Church in Washington, Iowa states that ‘The EIBCC has been instrumental in equipping him and his leaders to care for the spiritual needs of the congregation much more effectively.’ We praise God for the momentum that we see as Grace and the EIBCC get the opportunity to build up other pastors, leaders, and churches to effectively carry out the Great Commission in the corridor area. Through Momentum, we can continue to equip and train pastors and leaders all over the corridor to be effective in their discipleship efforts.
