Twice every year we send teams to Haiti to do medical missions, biblical counseling and leadership development in the villages of Williamson and Luly. In mid-May, our Spring team will launch (and we’re taking applications for our fall team). In March our Spring team was delayed due to extreme rioting, so please keep them in your prayers as they go.
Through the years we have seen hundreds of Haitians accept Christ, some escaping poverty, liberated from sin cycles and growing regularly in their faith. During our trips, we have men’s, women’s and pastor’s conferences with the people in the villages for equipping and care.
We have sought to strengthen the communities of faith by investing in their pastors. Five years ago a coalition of pastors was formed to connect new believers to discipleship opportunities in the local churches. Our mission in Haiti goes beyond the biannual jet setting, Every month, Pastors Dave Kirk and Jeff Thompson meet via Skype with seven Haitian pastors who are discipling their circle of men to be the spiritual leaders in their homes, churches, and community.
It has been exciting to see the spiritual progress that is being made in a country where discipleship is almost nonexistent, but the benefit isn’t one-sided. Folks that go on these trips often find themselves challenged, better equipped and changed in ways that only a cross-cultural experience can affect.
