Downtown Iowa City

The Downtown Church in Iowa City began in August 2013. We decided to plant this church because the drive to the North Liberty Campus was one obstacle we wanted to remove between students and a meaningful connection with the One True God. God overcame and eliminated many obstacles so that we could become His children and we choose to do overcome on obstacle for the students, faculty, and staff on the University of Iowa Campus.

Restore Me

Change is something we all strive for but often is very difficult. For a believer in Christ, change is something that happens from the inside out as we grow in our walk with Jesus. True changes happen first in the heart, then in our behavior. That is what this class is all about: walking with…

Peacemaking in Your Relationships

What happens in marriage, family and with friends when one person fights to win and the other flees conflict at all cost? Or two people who fight to win…

Biblical Finances

How we live is an act of worship to someone. We will either worship ourselves or worship Christ. This class will focus on how we can be sure that our finances, time, talent and all of our life are lived as an act of worship to Christ.

Rejoice in the birth of our Savior! Grace Community is hosting one Christmas service at Liberty High School that’s open to the whole community on Sunday, December 23 at 10 AM.

Mothers of Preschoolers 2018-19

MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) is for any woman with a child on the way through five years old. The spirit of MOPS is that we moms need each other. Mothering is beautiful-hard and mom friends are essential. We build circles of moms who love each other like family. Register at graceb3.org/mops.

A historic location

Built in 1858, Old Brick is the second oldest building in Iowa City. Built and used as North Presbyterian Church, it is one of the few surviving local structures dating from the Civil War or earlier. Old Brick stands tall as a historic treasure and has been described as Iowa City's "crown jewel of historic preservation". Grace Community Church is honored to be one of the several organizations that are welcomed to gather the members of the modern Iowa City community in a truly historic location.

Child Wellness Policy

For health standards, children must be free from fever or symptoms of a contagious disease for 24 hours. Here are some signs of illness...

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Rash
  • A runny nose
  • Fever in the past 24 hours
  • A persistent or hacking cough

Check-in begins 10 minutes before each service starts. If you’re a first-time guest you will need to fill out a registration card to check your children for our kids classes and receive security stickers. The stickers serve two purposes:

  • Parent Paging - If we need you during service, we'll come up and retrieve you in the back of the sanctuary.
  • Child Pick-up - You must present your portion of the sticker before we release your child.

Downtown Kids

Our goal in Children's Ministry is to point kids to Jesus as we partner with parents to disciple the next generation. This is achieved on Sundays through worship, prayer and Bible reading. Our nursery and preschool classes are led by trained volunteers who have been carefully screened.

Our volunteers are required to be trained and screened. Let us know of any allergies or medical conditions your child may have.

Baby Dedication

The word “dedicate” means to set aside or commit to a sacred purpose. Baby dedications are celebrations of the birth or adoption of a child and allow parents to commit themselves publicly to raise their child in the nurture and love of the Lord. We require parents to attend our Baby Dedication Class, but only once.

  • Register for a Baby Dedication Class
  • Hand in Hand by Cindy Sulwer. A guide to raising up your young child knowing God, praying, and learning about Him together.

At the Downtown campus, we offer nursery and pre-k classes year round.

We hold Thrive classes in two semesters beginning each September and January. Thrive classes are a great way to meet others in Grace that are heading the same way, get training and be built up in maturity for Christ.
